ABOUT US

Main functions of the Club:

  • Main sponsor and contributor for Sleepy Eye Sportsman's Boating and Bobbers, that is run under the Sleepy Eye Sportsman's Club 501(c)(3) non profit status.

  • Main contributor and organizer for Sleepy Eye High Schools Trap shooting league. It takes place at the Club and Trap Range. The league is run under the Minnesota State High School League policy and procedures.

  • Run Adult and Youth Trap Shooting League and individuals or just to practice some shooting. It takes place Wednesday evenings at the Trap Range and Club House. 6pm-10pm May through August.

  • Sponsor a traveling trap shooting team made up of Club members that travel to local towns during the summer, for competitions in a league.

  • Organize and help run Youth Gun Training Field Day at Sleepy Eye Sportsman's Trap Range and Club House in mid September.

  • Provide a float representing Sleepy Eye Sportsman's Club at Sleepy Eye Corn Days Parade in Sleepy Eye, mid August.

Main Fundraisers of Sportsman's Club:

  • Fishing Derby ran by the Club. It is known as one of the largest fishing derby's in Southern Minnesota.

  • 2 Soup, Chili and Sandwich fundraisers. The first is on the first Thursday of March and the second is on the first Thursday of December. Both are held at the Servicemens Club in Sleepy Eye.

  • Party in the Park Burger Stand at Allison Park on the last Thursday of July.

  • Corn Day's Fundraiser during Corn Day's in Sleepy Eye, mid August.

  • Sell food during the Youth Trap Shooting Field Day at the Clubs Trap Range and Club House in mid September.

History:

  • The Sleepy Eye Sportsman' sClub was formed in 1947. It is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization.

  • The Club donates to many local organizations such as, schools and clubs in the area.

  • The Club has done many projects on their own and with many other area organizations and clubs.

  • The Club has a trap range and club house located just south of Sleepy Eye on State Hwy 4. 2 miles out. The Club is very proud of its new Club house built in 2017. It is a beautiful facility. The Club house was built by its own members.

  • The Sleepy Eye Sportsman's Club has a park named after it on the North side of Sleepy Eye Lake called Sportsman's Park. The Club takes pride in this and donates to different projects that help Sportsman's Park to be a better place to camp, fish, or recreate. The Club works with the Park & Rec Dept. of Sleepy Eye.
